Palestinians in the West Bank cannot travel more than 10 kilometres without being stopped by Israeli restrictions.

Checkpoints, demands for permits and the apartheid wall surrounding the occupied territories are all part of the struggle of daily life.

‘Freedom to Run’ follows Palestinian running group ‘Right to Movement’ and a group from Glasgow as they train for and run, both the Palestine and Edinburgh marathons. Whilst in Palestine, the Scottish runners learn about the impact of the restrictions on everyday life, and that something as universal as running is a far from easy task. The runners discover that they are not so different, but that they live very different lives.

There will be a Q&A with the filmmakers after the screening.

Funds raised by ticket sales will go to Medical Aid for Palestinians - https://www.map.org.uk

PRE SCREENING RUN:

Starting and ending at The Blue Lamp, we will jog 3.5km in a circular route via Broad Hill and the Castlegate. This is an informal chance to meet other like minded runners and show collective solidarity as we move through the city together. Palestinian colours or flags are encouraged. 🇵🇸

Meet us at The Blue Lamp at 5:30pm

The screening event will start an hour later and food will be provided prior to the film. There will be somewhere to leave any bags, change of clothes, etc.

Let us know if you are planning to run by emailing tacticsfortogetherness@gmail.com or messaging us on instagram @tacticsfortogetherness

Please note this is not a race, and is open to runners of any level. It is totally optional and we look forward to seeing you at the screening if the run isn’t for you. Runners are responsible for their own safety and must accept full liability for their actions. Aged 14+.

**DONATIONS UPDATE**

Funds raised by ticket sales will go to Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF): https://www.pcrf.net

We have changed to PCRF from Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) as we found out MAP banks with Barclays. Information on the Barclays boycott can be found here: https://palestinecampaign.org/boycott-barclays-bank/
