Lead Sister are the female-led faction of Scottish funk 'n' soul collective, The Tomorrow Band. The septet features Scottish Jazz Award-winners and musicians/ touring musicians made up from other established recording artists - such as Horse, The Shee, Macy Gray, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, and James Brown Is Annie to name but a few.
While focusing on a set that champions the most edgy and influential within female-led RnB music, the group also pays homage to one of Scotland's most successful musicians, award-winning songwriter, Hamish Stuart/ Average White Band - a big, and direct, influence on the band's origins. ~
Lead the way, sisters...
WHAT TO EXPECT - Shoulder-shooglin', booty-shakin', in-the-pocket funk 'n' soul: imagine Chaka Khan bombing down Union Street in a Gran Ford Torino - Average White Band blaring from the stereo, the Brides Of Funkenstein singing in the back seat - and you're already halfway to experiencing a Lead Sister gig. Bass will bubble, horns will cook, and guitars will groove. Just don't forget your dancin' shoes...
