About the event

New York. Spirit and Magic - the soul and the heart ... this is what Scatter The Atoms That Remain is all about. Drummer-composer Franklin Kiermyer, saxophonist Ben Solomon, pianist Davis Whitfield and Jason Maximo Clotter on bass are each virtuosos all magnetized by a singular devotion to this power of music.  Visiting the Bluelamp as part of their second European tour of 2023.

Prior to that they’ve playing New York City, Brooklyn, Baltimore, Berlin, Munich, Paris, Barcelona, Valencia, Murcia and more and have been met with extraordinarily enthusiastic appreciation everywhere.

"...an astonishingly rounded, flowing performance that focuses on spiritualism, magic and soul and lets the transformative power of the quartet's music shine brightly." Gaesteliste Magazine - Germany

"A musical adventure, a poetic flight, in which musical liberation led us on more than amazing paths." La Vanguardia Magazine - Spain

Jazz At Lincoln Center: "Music that is at once majestic, ferocious, and relatable ... The words “ecstasy” and “ecstatic” appear almost predictably, but sometimes a word is just right. Scatter The Atoms That Remain ... This type of universal, non-denominational spirituality simply feels good."

The New York City Jazz Record: "There may not be a quartet out there that best picks up where the Coltrane Quartet left off than drummer Franklin Kiermyer's Scatter The Atoms That Remain."

Rolling Stone Magazine: "Drummer Franklin Kiermyer is that rare jazzman - blessed with the ecstatic quality of his free-bop attack."

Down Beat: "A very specific and sacred understanding of the music is revealed...a testament to Kiermyer s transcendental and volcanic approach to his role as leader and composer.”

Citizen Jazz - France "By its fervor and its sincerity, by the vibration that runs through all its music with an intense thrill, the quartet commands respect. Their choral song deserves attention: it proves that, failing to clear unknown lands, the spirit that inhabits it continues to produce magnetic effects.”
