Once upon a time in Orkney, some of the Windows met James Oliver and a Rhythm Machine. We've managed to curb their world adventures for 4 days, for their ONLY Scottish gigs this whole year, for a mini tour and double header! Double Header - Full line up: Liz Jones & Broken Windows + James Oliver Band
If you've been to one of our Northern Shindigs, this is similar. Two bands, The Majesty of the Blue Lamp, Wild!
For lovers of: Roots, Blues, Rock'n'roll Also for lovers of: Great humour, Relaxed gigs, The Welsh, Sublime guitar playing Both JAMES OLIVER and the band (JOB) have just been nominated for UK Blues awards in 2024! (And won a few in the past). They are from the Triopic of South Wales, Strongly champion the Telecaster as one of the best creations of mankind and are arguably the hardest working/gigging band in the UK today. A trip up to Scotland is rare, however, so please don't miss them!
Broken Windows have been hosting nights in Edinburgh and Aberdeen for about 7 years. What we like to do is share our stage with another act that we think are top notch, to give YOU a good deal for your money, and to create real one off evenings. Both bands play a full set and we always try to have a collaboration of some kind. We run a relaxed, sometimes shambolic and sponateous evening.
James Oliver Band are an easy sell. They're winning awards, getting booked across the water.
But maybe you've never heard of Broken Windows? That's okay. We're veterans of the Edinburgh underworld, and we've put on 3 amazing Shindigs at the Blue Lamp in the last few years. We do originals, but NOT boring ones. We have BRILLIANT players, We've got BLUES'N'TROUBLE members, We've got Suzy (If you don't know you should), We have a songwriter who "wakes the dead" (so says Brian) and we dance around all the roots genres. If you like vintage tones, full bands and the unvain spirit of 60s music, you're in.
We've got an amazing bunch of friends and followers who've been enabling us to hire venues and do our thing since 2017. Because we're not a covers band, we mostly have to put on our own shows. Your Ticket money covers the sound person, parking, petrol, cheap hotel rooms!, and hopefully a fair fee for the musicians for their time. We know the cost of living has gone up, and so we thank you for reading this and considering our night. :-)
PLEASE READ | VENUE PRACTICALITIES We can reserve seats for those who are unable to attend without a seat, but there are usually plenty available at the Lampy, please come at the opening time if you'd like a seat.
