This brand new project features a repertoire that is freshly composed and arranged by Norman Willmore, and performed by an outstanding ensemble. The band includes the highly acclaimed Corrie Dick and Laura Jurd on drums and trumpet, respectively. Both members of the Mercury-nominated band, Dinosaur. I am delighted to have the BBC Traditional Musician of the Year, Amy Laurenson playing piano. My long-time collaborator, Harry Gorski-Brown, delivers a virtuosic performance on the fiddle, along with the renowned Brodie Jarvie on Double Bass, who is an integral part of the Scottish jazz scene.
Our music draws inspiration from the hauntingly beautiful landscapes of the Shetland Islands, where myself and Amy grew up. We incorporate elements of contemporary Scandinavian Jazz and Improvised music to create a unique sound that is both fresh and captivating, whilst deeply steeped in heritage.
