About the event
In a career that (in 2022) spans thirty years, he has toured Europe/UK fifty times, built a huge following of admirers and performed alongside many of the best names in the business, including Ray Charles, John Le Hooker and Robert Cray.
Led Zep frontman, Robert Plant is such a big fan that he invited him to open the show on every one of the American and European tour dates he had planned in 2020 …until the pandemic came along and spoiled the party.
A masterclass performer, and true bottleneck/guitar/blues legend, the award-winning thirteen-times Grammy-nominated performer is frequently praised for his “breathtaking” style.
When he appears on stage, the performance is so big, bold and expressive, you might be forgiven for imagining there’s a full band up there with him.
His latest (twentieth) album was raved about in all the right quarters, picking up tons of radio exposure and great reviews.
He has probably had more good things written about him than many of his contemporaries.
The Guardian newspaper urged readers to “see him if you can,” while RNR magazine crowned him “the real acoustic blues king.” Acoustic Guitar magazine has described him as “one of the most exciting guitarists of any genre.” Blues Matters magazine praised his “effortless delivery and virtuoso musicianship.”
Possessing a natural-born gift, the live set contains gems he has unearthed from years immersed studying the music he loves, and, in recent times, some of his meaty originals.
He growls, he sways in time and even utters the odd “yeah” mid-song when the groove hits that sweet spot that others might find all too illusive.
Every performance is filled with musical wonder, educational gems he’s learned on the subject so dear to his heart and a trademark enthusiasm and humility that is just his natural way.
An unstoppable force, the engine room that drives all he does has never been in better shape.
