About the event
Marianne McGregor is a prominent new voice in the Scottish Jazz Scene. Awarded 'Best Vocalist’ in the Scottish Jazz Awards 2021, McGregor continues to gain recognition for her powerful voice and vocal improvisation. Taking inspiration from her great jazz influencers, Marianne has a tone comparable to the likes of Amy Winehouse, an Ella-like freedom towards improvisation and captures phrasing and emotion with the power of Billie Holiday. Marianne will perform at the Blue Lamp as part of Aberdeen Jazz Festival with an all-star band featuring some of Scotland's top jazz musicians, Brian Kellock, Colin Steele and Ed Kelly. The programme will feature some of the singer's original songs and unique arrangements of favourite jazz standards.
